Between 2021 and 2024, the public prosecutors of Diekirch and Luxembourg handled 25 cases related to drink spiking. However, this number is largely underestimated. In France, for example, in 2022, 2,197 reports were submitted to the expert center, with 1,229 confirmed cases of assaults facilitated by substances, marking a 69.1% increase compared to the previous year. These data suggest that the actual number of cases could be multiplied by 3 to 7 compared to official reports.

A certain fear of not being believed or of facing retaliation discourages many victims from filing a complaint. And finally, major legal difficulties. In Luxembourg, drink spiking is not considered an aggravating circumstance, which complicates its specific recording in judicial databases.
